Pasupathy Vimalachandran

Primary Health Network, Australia

Title: Digital Health Initiatives in Australia and Preserving the Privacy and Security for them

Abstract: The need for a 'connected healthcare' system is greater than ever - one that's accessible, progressive, and secure. A 'connected healthcare' allows better and more informed health outcomes. Digital health makes the 'connected healthcare' system possible. Better use of technology in healthcare can help improve the healthcare systems with greater control and better access to health information. Also, through a connected healthcare system, healthcare providers can deliver safer and more personalised treatment. In this talk, Dr Vimalachandran discusses the digital health initiatives that were employed in the recent past nationally in Australia, how they benefit and contribute to better health outcomes, the current status of each initiative, and how to preserve those systems that remain safer and secure. He also explains the three-layer security model that he proposed to ensure the privacy and security of those digital health initiatives.

Bio: Dr Pasupathy Vimalachandran completed his PhD in Information Science (Digital Health) at Victoria University in 2020. He has been working for one of the Primary Health Networks in Australia as a Digital Health Lead. In addition to the research studies that he undertook for his PhD, he has more than 15 years of Digital Health work experience in Australia. During this period, he was involved with the promotion of many digital health initiatives and took part in provider engagement activities in Australia.
